Taking strength where you can
June (free post)
"until heaven and earth may be mingled together, and until sun and moon may be mingled together." - from Charms, Charmers and Charming in Ireland
June brings a different quality of strength, not the sharp kind that pushes through resistance, but the steady kind that accumulates quietly, day by day, simply because the light keeps returning. Even in Ireland, even through cloud, the sun does its work.
In Irish charm material, the sun appears as part of the great ordering forces of the world, paired with the moon, set alongside heaven and earth and even the stars. When those things are named together, it's not poetry, it's power, marking stability, endurance, and the continuation of life as it should be.
This isn'tt a month for forcing change, it's a month for receiving what's already available, and letting it strengthen what's been worn thin by the darker half of the year.
This simple Irish spell is for drawing steadiness from the sun and settling it back into your own body.
You'll need a single candle and a safe place to light it. Light the candle and place it where you can see it clearly, sit or stand comfortably and let your shoulders drop, then take a few natural breaths and let your eyes rest on the flame.
When you're ready, say:
I take the strength of the sun into myself.
I take its steadiness into my bones.
What has been weakened, be restored.
What endures, endure well.
Beir Bua. (Pron. bare BOO-ah)
Sit quietly for a few moments, letting the warmth and the light do their work without effort, and when it feels complete, extinguish the candle deliberately.
And you're done!
If you want more grounded seasonal work like this, and the thinking that keeps it honest and rooted, you'll find it on the Living Irish Witchcraft Podcast.

PS
If the sun shows itself today, even briefly, let it hit your face for a moment longer than usual. You don't need to do anything with that, just let your body remember it knows what the strength of light feels like.
